SIKESTON - Mrs. Ralph Anderson will present her music pupils in a piano and organ recital next Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at her studio on North Kingshighway.

SIKESTON - John Cook, a high school senior, is now cadet commander of the civil air patrol squadron. Cook is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cook and succeeds Elizabeth Bechtold in the position.


SIKESTON - The Lions Club viewed an Air Force film, "Tall Man Five by Five," at its noon luncheon meeting. The film showed practice and heavy bombardment procedures by the Air Force.

SIKESTON - Jill Smith directs the new Parents As Teachers program, now being offered through the Sikeston School District. Nearly 70 families are involved in the statewide program, which is the first of its type in the nation. It is designed to help children ages 0-3 to respond to education better when they reach kindergarten age.

SIKESTON - Applications are being accepted for the Community Hero Torchbearer for the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. The Torch Relay will pass through Cape Girardeau at 4 p.m. May 27, 1996. The torch will arrive in downtown Cape Girardeau and be carried through town toward Jackson.

SIKESTON - The Southeast Missouri State University class, Contemporary Drug Use, conducted a class project Saturday at the Sikeston Fieldhouse. The class told the 100 children that there are alternatives to drugs and getting in trouble. Several people spoke including Sandra Sharp, who told the group about her alcohol related accident.


BENTON - Mini Farms addition residents will be voting Tuesday on the construction and equipping of a public water supply district. Voting will take place at the Miner City Hall.
