Mildred Payne

DEXTER - Mildred Marie Payne, 83, died March 26, 2006, in the Cypress Point Health Care.

Born Nov. 7, 1922, at Gibson, daughter of the late James and Fannie Cashion Stafford, she and her husband were the owners of Payne's Shoe Store in downtown Dexter for over 30 years. She was of the Pentecostal belief.

On June 21, 1941, at Campbell, she married Eldon Perry Payne who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1998.

Two sisters, Irene Trout and Rita Mae Turner, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Richard McCuan of Jackson and Teena and Marion Fields of Dexter; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Robert Bentley will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
