Ben Vaughn

DEXTER - Ben Hubert Vaughn, 99, died Jan. 27, 2006, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.

Born July 27, 1906, at Dexter, son of the late W.J. and Mary Alice Bobbitt Vaughn, he was a 1924 graduate of Dexter High School. He was a salesman for Swift and Company in St. Louis and in 1936 started and operated Vaughn Brothers Meat Packing Plant. A United States Army veteran, having served during World War II, he was a bookkeeper for Scism Motor Co., served as a Stoddard County deputy sheriff, elected as a Stoddard County judge and had retired from Miller's Greenhead Duck Club. Also he was a member ofthe American Legion and the Veterans of Foreing Wars.

Survivors include: one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde A. and Lois Vaughn of Dexter; and one sister-in-law, Pauline Vaughn of Dexter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, W.J. "Bill" Vaughn, E.R. "Dutch" Vaughn, Joe Vaughn and George "Cotton" Vaughn and one sister, Louise Bailey.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. Friday until time of memorial services at 3 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Vaughn Wright will officiate.

Burial will follow in Hagy Cemetery.
