SIKESTON -- The Sikeston boys freshman basketball team defeated Kelly 43

-29 on Wednesday night at the Sikeston Field House.

Sikeston, now 4-1, jumped out to a 15-11 first quarter lead and never looked back as they extended the advantage to 29-16 at halftime and 32-16 heading into the fourth quarter.

"I thought we played pretty well," said Sikeston ninth grade coach Chris Sarakas. "This was a good game for us because we got everybody in for some playing time and those guys did a good job. We had a lot of people score and that's always a good thing."

Nine different players reached the scoring column. Dominic Fondon led the way with seven points followed by Kelvin Davis, Jake Pratcher, Richard Andrews and Courvirseya Strickland's six points each.

Zach Essner and Eric Turlsy led Kelly with seven points apiece.

EAST PRAIRIE -- The Oran Eagles defeated the East Prairie Eagles on the road in overtime Tuesday night, winning 82-79.

Oran jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led by as much as 42-24 with two minutes left in the third only to see East Prairie rally to tie the game in the fourth quarter.

East Prairie's Mitchell Winchester hit three free throws with 20 seconds left to tie the score to send it to OT.

Oran hit 11-of-14 free throws in the overtime period to pull out its first win of the season and improve to 1-3.

Oran was led by Kody Campbell's 22 points and Chris Asmus' 20 points.

East Prairie was led by Tony Jones and Dez Johnson with 19 apiece. Winchester added 18 points.

East Prairie falls to 2-4.
