No arrests made in local shooting

SIKESTON - An investigation continues into a shooting that left a 47-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head.

Around 3:50 a.m. Monday, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a 911 call from a Sikeston resident stating her husband was accidentally shot with a gun.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim and found that he had a single gunshot wound to his head. The South Scott County Ambulance Service arrived to the residence to treat the victim and transport him to the Missouri Delta Medical Center Emergency Room for further treatment.

Sikeston's Criminal Investigations Unit detectives collected evidence at the scene and interviewed family members who were at the home at the time of the incident.

No arrests have been made in regards to this shooting; however, the case is still under investigation.
