BENTON - Anna Marie Wiedefeld, 84, died at 10 p.m. Dec. 4, 2005, at her home.

Born Nov. 2, 1921, in Charleston, the daughter of the late Henry and Rosella Layton Scheffer, she was an assembly technician with Florsheim Shoe Company in Cape Girardeau until retirement in 1983. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.

On July 29, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., she married Elmer Charles "Johnny" Wiedefeld, who preceded her in death Nov. 26, 2004.

Survivors include: one son, J.W. Wiedefeld of Benton; three sisters, Mildred Abernathy of Benton and Aline Scherer and Christine Lape, both of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Mark and Scott Gibbar of Overland Park, Kan., and Zachary Gibbar of Fort Collins, Colo., and four great-grandchildren.

One son, Kenneth Gibbar; seven brothers, Frank Scheffer, Tony Scheffer, Benny Scheffer, Paul Scheffer, Vincent Scheffer and Thomas Scheffer; and three sisters, Rose Boitnott, Cecelia Gier and Mary Ann Scheffer also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton with parish prayers at 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery in Benton.
