Sikeston volleyball falls in straight sets to N.D.
CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs volleyball lost a tough, two set match to the Notre Dame Bulldogs at Notre Dame High School by scores of 25-22 and 25-20.
"Disappointed with the effort," said Sikeston head coach Steve Beydler. "We had a good chance to play them tough and take it to three sets, if not win the match. We have got to play better and stop the long rallies."
Beydler stated that a server for Notre Dame was the Achilles' heel for Sikeston.
"Their server had four separate serve opportunities that they rallied off several points that put us down and we were unable to rally."
On offense, Sikeston was led in kills by Quinn Kaiser who had six and Martika Davis was second with five. Rachel Beydler continues to rack up assist as she had seven against Notre Dame and Kelsey Lawrence chipped in with five assist.
Beydler and Lawrence led Sikeston in serving aces with two and one respectively.
On defense, Sikeston was led in digs by Beydler who had nine, Kaiser had five and Lawrence was solid with five digs. Davis had two blocks in the game and Caitlin Underwood and Lawrence each had one block against Notre Dame.
"We came out flat tonight and for us to be a winning team we have got to respond better," said Beydler.
Sikeston (9-13) will compete in the SEMO Conference in Scott City starting today and Sikeston will have two matches to start the tournament.
