Jack Thompson
ESSEX - Aron "Jack" Thompson, 87, died May 23, 2006, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born June 20, 1918, in Rosston, Ark., he was the son of the late Jeff and Dessie Mae Young Thompson. Formerly of California, he lived in Essex for the past 33 years, where he was a member of the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and had worked for over 12 years for Richland High School. He had worked as a shipping clerk for a furniture company and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.
On Feb. 18, 1975, in Malden, he married Annie Hill, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: six sons, Aron Thompson Jr., Jackie Thompson and Donnie Thompson of Los Angeles, Andre Thompson of Essex, Kelvin Jeff Thompson of Sikeston and Steven Thompson of Cape Girardeau; one daughter and son-in-law, Angelia and Roy Liggins of Sikeston; one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Doris Thompson of Rockford, Ill.; one sister and brother-in-law, Opal and John Lindsey of Detroit; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. James Turk of Sikeston will officiate.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield.
