I see the light, not!

Friday morning, July 20, about 3:30 in the morning, just south of Scott City, there was a truck on fire on 55 Highway. Scott County deputy working the accident, the battery was dead in his flashlight. How are you supposed to see him waving a dead flashlight when it's 3:30 in the morning?

As far as the county court commissioners trying to decide whether or not to put the law enforcement sales tax back on the ballot again, I'm wondering what part of "no" does the county commission not understand. I have a suggestion. Put the sales tax increase on the ballot at the same time the presiding commissioner and the county commissioner are up for reelection. If we give them that alternative, I'll bet they forget the tax increase and start looking for ways to balance the budget up in Scott County. We're already paying too many taxes, we don't need to pay them more to waste up there.

You can't see Bush or Cheney on TV without mentioning the word Iraq. He says if we pull out it would be a disaster. They said the same thing about Vietnam after we got 50 some thousand people killed. Look at Vietnam now, it's better off than when we were there. You can't believe anything Bush tells you. It's all about oil. They are giving these people in Iraq money. That is your tax dollars, your money, our money. They are taking it away from the poor and needy. He doesn't want help over here he wants to go ahead and let you pay for it out of your pocket. Matter of fact, they all get free health care over in Iraq and guess who's paying for it? We are.

I would just like to put this out there about a certain landlord who is crooked as the day is long. I've lived in my house for eight months. I have always paid my rent every month. I figured by paying my rent the way I did maybe the landlord would take that money and fix what needed to be fixed around the house. Well, was I ever wrong! I have four small children. I had problems with him in the winter because I had no heat. This summer, I've had problems because we had no air, amongst everything else that isn't fixed in the house. So, I paid my rent last month and three days later I received a notice to vacate the premises by Aug. 15 because he doesn't have the money to fix the house. Where did my rent money go, in your pocket? Yes, I called Code Enforcement. What you're doing isn't right. You're the reason a lot of landlords get a bad rep. So, I hope you enjoy spending my rent money in court. I hope I never have to deal with a heartless landlord like you again. Have a blessed day.

I don't know if Guilty until proven innocent is talking about Mississippi County or not, but I completely agree with them. It is totally unfair the way they don't care what happens to the person, the person getting better or getting the help that they need. All they care about is their reputation. I think it's just not fair.
