Richard Landers

MATTHEWS - Richard Glenn Landers, 63, died at 11:52 a.m. July 4, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 9, 1943, in Sikeston, to the late Raymond Cecil "Goob" and Emma West Landers, he graduated from Lilbourn High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service for 15 years, area supervisor for the Boll Weevil Eradication Program with the Department of Agriculture in Malden for five years and a member of the Canalou Baptist Church.

On Oct. 29, 1988, in Bement, he married Imogene Roach who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Justin Landers and Rick and Shannon Landers of Sikeston and Jason and Nikki Landers of New Madrid; one brother, Terry Landers of Morehouse; one sister, Diane Hogan of Austin, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Fred Ritter of the First Baptist Church in Marble Hill will officiate assisted by the Rev. Rodney Dunlap of the Abundant Life In Christ Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: John Bixler, Darin Proffer, Scott Tarrants, Lance Lawson, Tony Stricklin and Forest Guilling.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Fred Harris, Gerald Settles, Lonny Lawson, Wayne Parker, Harvey Kelso, Butch Faulkner and Buel Curtis.
