BERTRAND -- The Rev. William Doyle Heckert, 90, died at 12:10 a.m. Feb. 27, 2008, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born July 17, 1917, in Bertrand, son of the late Doyle and Cecil Mae Meeks Heckert, he had been a farmer and owned a trucking company prior to becoming a minister with the Church of God of Prophecy where he served as pastor in several Southeast Missouri towns including Bernie and Charleston for over 50 years.

He was first married to Lois Sweet, and she preceded him in death. Later he married Doris Heckert, and she survives of Okeechobee, Fla.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Patsy Heckert of Fall Brook, Calif.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenda Heckert of Belleville, Ill., Carol and Bob Cline of Ballwin and Patsy and Allen Blanton of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Kevin Cline of Ballwin, Karen Butler of Ellisville, Katherine Collins of Sikeston, Allen Murray Blanton Jr. of Holly Springs, N.C. and Justin Heckert of Atlanta; six great-grandchildren, Kimberley and Jennifer Butler of Ellisville, Courtney and Natalie Collins of Sikeston and Kennedy and Samuel Blanton of Holly Springs; one sister, Bertha Sweet of Sikeston; and four sisters-in-law, Pauline Heckert and Bonnie Heckert of Sikeston, Nadine Grooms of Festus and Virginia Pulliam of St. Louis.

Two brothers, Edward Heckert and Lawrence Heckert, also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with the Rev. Billy Joe Meeks officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
