SIKESTON -- Daisy D. Davis, 70, died at 3 a.m. Aug. 28, 2007, at her home.

Born Aug. 18, 1937, in Washington, D.C., to the late William Frank and Doris June Slagle Donald. During her early years, she worked for the Ventura, Calif., Police Department as a traffic enforcement officer. She later relocated to Sikeston, where she was a homemaker and volunteered at the Sikeston House of Refuge for several years.

On May 7, 1981, she married Garry Edwin Davis, who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2003.

One son, John H. Poetzman III, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Robert William Poetzman of Sikeston and Thomas M. Poetzman of Portland, Ore.; one stepson, Richard Davis of Bertrand; three daughters, Kathryn Lynn Martin of Hedgesville, W. Va., Suzanne Michelle McClanahan of Hutchison, Kan. and Janice Lee Owen of Oakview, Calif.; one sister, Eleanor Douglas of the state of West Virginia; and numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The body will be cremated with private disposition at a later date.
