Ruth Scherer
LEAWOOD, Kan. - Naomi Ruth Scherer, 81, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died at 9:30 a.m. June 21, 2007, at her residence in Leawood.
Born March 5, 1926, in Sikeston to the late Fred J. and Hazel Lepley Struwe, she was a homemaker as well as a former Girl Scout leader and member of the Daughters of Isabella. A member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Sikeston, she attended the Church of the Nativity in Leawood since moving there in 2000.
On March 4, 1944, in Sikeston, she married Wilfred "Willie" J. Scherer, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter in infancy and four brothers.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. J. Stephen and Carolee Scherer of Leawood; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon E. Lynch of Memphis, Tenn., and Syd A. and David Gilliland of Leawood; and seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where a prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Monsignor Richard Rolwing officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
