BENTON -- LaFayette McCoy, 88, died at 1:46 a.m. Aug. 19, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 23, 1918, in Tuckerman, Ark., son of the late Fayette and Mary Ella Brandon McCoy, he was a machinist and had been employed with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan. He had served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Benton in 1998, and was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church in Scott City. He was married to Jeroleen Shrum, who preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 1977.

Two sisters also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Jimmie McCoy of Willow Springs and Gary McCoy of Scott City; two daughters, Judy Morris of Benton and Marie Mayberry of Commerce; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jim Norris will officiate.

Burial with full military rites will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
