CARUTHERSVILLE - A lover's quarrel injured a man and put a woman in jail.

Caruthersville Police responded to a report of a subject being threatened by a knife in the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 4:07 p.m. Thursday. When officers arrived a large crowd had gathered in the roadway, according to a news release from the department.

Caruthersville Police Chief Chris Riggs said the suspect told officers the victim was her boyfriend and had been cheating on her. When he came to her residence to retrieve some property, the man slapped her, the woman stated.

An ambulance was called for a 28-year-old male who had received cuts to his back and right arm from a razor blade. He was taken to the Hayti Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The woman, 29, was taken into custody by police and is being held in the Pemiscot County jail pending the filing of formal charges.
