Charles Dawson
SIKESTON -- Charles Leland Dawson, 86, died at 12:20 p.m. May 22, 2007, at his home.
Born Dec. 17, 1920, in Van Buren, son of the late Charles Henry and Dicey Eveline Chilton Dawson, he served in the U.S. Navy During World War II and was a member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF&AM. He was a retired tool and die maker.
On May 21, 1955, in St. Louis, he married Cleo Imojean "Jean" Gardner, who survives of the home in Sikeston.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Pamela M. Brown of Foristell; two sisters, Nedra Breckle of Ste. Genevieve and Joanne Heaven of Fremont; two grandchildren, Lisa Brown-Derrick of Foristell and Matthew Brown of Troy; and two great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Coy E. Dawson and Dan Dawson; and five sisters, Odetta McCallister, Sophia Goggin, Ophia Hedrick, Madeline Fish and Donna Leach.
His body was donated for scientific research to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and there will be no services.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
