DEXTER - Freddie Leon Smith, 80, formerly of Bernie, died June 7, 2007, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter.

Born Feb. 16, 1927, at Lockheart Ferry, Ark., to the late James Henry and Charlotte Barr McPike Smith, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.

Survivors include: one son, Freddie L. Smith Jr. of St. Mary; five brothers, Roland Smith of Flint, Mich., James Thomas Smith of Howell, Mich., Kenneth Smith of Risco, Billy Gene Smith of Walnut, Calif. and Barney B. Smith of Midland, Texas; one sister, Eugenia Blummerkemper of Greenbriar, Ark.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo Smith and Curtis Smith; and one half-brother, C.C. Norris.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The Rev. Mark Powell will officiate.

Burial with full military rites will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
