SHREVEPORT, La. - Theodore Felix "Ted" Armes, 80, formerly of Vanduser, Mo., died at 6:50 a.m. Aug. 1, 2006, at his home.

Born Jan. 18, 1926, in Bloomfield, Mo., to the late George Alva and Agnes Mary Atherton Armes, he had been an ordained minister, member and deacon at Vanduser Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served two years during World War II and a veteran of the United States Army, having served six years during the Korean War. He served as chief of housekeeping with the Veterans Administration at V.A. Hospitals in Missouri, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee and Indiana before retiring on Jan. 18, 1981. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the International Society of Poets, he also served as an ombudsman at Miner, Mo., Nursing Center.

On Aug. 6, 1948, in Carlisle Barracks, Pa., he married Wilma E. Adams, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Edward Armes of Shreveport; two daughters, Mary Grothause of Delphos, Ohio, and Sharon Tartarilla of Marshall, Texas; two brothers, Robert Armes of Clinton, Mo. and Dewey Arms of Warrensburg, Mo.; four sisters, Geneva Parker of Kansas City, Mo., Laura Almond of Flint, Mich., Catherine Wagner of Flatonia, Texas and Mary Williams of Lathrop, Mo.; and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Glenn Rogers, pastor of the Vanduser Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
