MALDEN -- Violes Muriel "Bugs" McElvoy, 97, died Feb. 10, 2007, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Jan. 11, 1910, in Cherokee, Kan., son of the late George and Viola McCowin McElvoy, he was a member of Landmark Pentecostal Church in Malden.

On Nov. 5, 1933, he married Ruby Cluck who preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 1983. He later married Vestia Estell Stratton Berry on July 16, 1983, who preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2005.

One son, Kenneth McElvoy; two brothers, Norman McElvoy and Hardy McElvoy; three sisters, Thyra Rockenbaugh, Irene Boone and Violet Baynes; and two grandchildren also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in law, Marvin and Letha McElvoy of Springfield, Jack and Nancy McElvoy of Corning, Ark., and Udell McElvoy of Peculiar; one daughter and son-in-law, Lucretia and Tommy Stanley of Sikeston; four stepsons, Dallas Berry of Malden, James Berry of Arnold, Sherman Berry of Dexter and Thomas Berry of O'Fallon; one stepdaughter, Anna Lou Bienhoff of Fairmont, Ill.; and nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted today at Landmark Pentecostal Church at Malden. The Rev. Dale Hill officiated.

Burial followed in the Gravel Hill Cemetery at St. Francis, Ark.

Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden was in charge of arrangements.
