Orval Shew

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Orval Shew, 88, formerly of Wyatt, died Nov. 26, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 17, 1918, in Southeast Missouri, son of the late Eldridge and Emma Mehler Shew, he had lived in Wyatt most of his life where he was a landowner and a gentleman farmer. He was a member of the Wyatt Methodist Church until its recent closing at which time he became a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II having served as an aircraft mechanic.

On May 20, 1949, he married Margaret Crosno, who survives of the home in Cape Girardeau.

He and Margaret enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his nephews and nieces, Ray Presson and Roy and Melinda Presson of Charleston, Alan and Janet Shew of Kingston Springs, Tenn., Ann and Roy J. Stocking of Rockford, Ala., Donna and Jim Acreback of Arlington, Texas, Judy and Jerry Borgmann of Hollister and John and Connie Cook of Malvern, Ark. Also a number of great-nephews and nieces survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Shew, and one sister, Inas Shew Presson.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston. The Rev. Roger Jespersen, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
