Charleston slips away with win over NMC in 2nd round

CHAFFEE -- The Sikeston 12-year-old All-Stars saw their dreams of a state title go down in heartbreaking fashion Friday night, losing to the MABA All-Stars 4-3.

Sikeston led 2-1 until the fifth inning and the two teams were tied 3-3 entering the sixth. Dylon Parmley doubled in the sixth for MABA and was singled home by Logan England to give MABA the win.

Sikeston pitching only allowed seven hits in the game.

FARMINGTON -- The Charleston Fighting Squirrels won their second round game in the Missouri Senior Babe Ruth Tournament Saturday afternoon, defeating New Madrid County 7-6.

The Squirrels used timely hitting and timely defensive plays to squeeze out the win. Charleston earned a forfeit in the first round against Houston.

Results from the Squirrels' Sunday game against the Leadwood Pirates as well as the New Madrid County game versus Jackson were unavailable at press time.
