No trespassing

In addition to the "Trash Talk." I live on Cambridge Drive and it's not only where trash needs to be put, but the children. I came in from shopping to find three teens in my yard on their bikes; they wheeled off before I had a chance to say anything. A few minutes later they were in a neighbor's yard doing the same. I did tell them they should not be in other people's yards and then I called the police. Parents, if you are going to let your kids ride all around, then at least teach them to respect other people's properties. I let my daughter ride her bike, but she would not dare ride where she doesn't have permission. I will be watching to find out where the children live in order to inform their parents about this behavior. I think respect starts at home and obviously some houses have none.

Barack facts

Do people really read the paper or listen to the news or check things out for their selves? Obama is an American. He was born in the United States of America. He was born in Hawaii and Hawaii is part of America. He is not a Muslim, he does wear his pin and he does put his hand over his chest. His father was Muslim, but his father doesn't want nothing to do with him and he doesn't want nothing to do with his father. He was raised by his grandparents right here in the United States.

They say that ignorance is bliss, but in this case, it's downright dangerous. Last week a SpeakOut caller asked where Barack Obama was born. This week another caller proclaimed we don't need a Muslim running our country. How sad it is that the ugly smear campaign waged against Obama has been so successful. For those of you who are really interested in learning about this man, you should pick up a copy of his book, "Dreams from my Father" at Wal-Mart. For those who would rather get their information in the local newspaper, here's a brief history. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, he is a natural born American. His black father was from Kenya, Africa. His white mother was from Kansas. He was raised by his mother and grandparents that didn't have much money. He worked to pay for his education. He has never been a Muslim. He is a Christian, just like most of us. He is a patriotic American. His life's work has been to improve conditions for those less fortunate than himself. You can also read about his ideas and plans to improve our country and make our government more responsive to its people needs. Don't choose a candidate until you've done your homework. Then, and only then, can you make an informed choice this November.

Another way to pay

Layaway is the way big business preys on the poor and uneducated. Think about it folks. You want to buy something, so you give your money to a corporation to hold on to because you are too ignorant to save your money yourself - give me a break! By paying here and there, you are giving Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. a loan where they make the money on the interest and not you! If you think you need layaway so badly, buy a piggy bank (like the ones you give your children) and save up your money yourself. Then you'll have it when you get enough, and you also have it in case of an emergency - not Wal-Mart.
