Helen Jacobs

EAST PRAIRIE -- Helen L. Jacobs, 83, died at 5:55 a.m. Sept. 8, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 12, 1915, in New Madrid County, to the late Fred Buck and Bertha Lee Bisher, she had lived most of her life in East Prairie and was of the Baptist belief.

On Jan. 19, 1978, she married Herman G. Jacobs, who preceded her in death on March 13, 2005.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Fred Duty, four brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Anita Duty of East Prairie; one brother, Lonnie Conyers of Wickliffe, Ky.; three sisters, Faye Youngblood of East Prairie, Rovina Phillips of Troy and Freddie Jo Colson of Carmi, Ill.; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Cindy and J. Frazier of New Madrid County.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Clifford Duty, Terry Duty, Jessie Willis, Dustin Woods, Kenny Duty and Ronnie Lee Conyers.
