SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Barrett are parents of a daughter born Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Cairo, Ill.

Sept. 21, 1968

DEXTER - Residents of the Dexter R-11 School District overwhelmingly approved a proposed $325,000 school bond issue on Tuesday, 490-11.

Sept. 21, 1988

SIKESTON - Four-year-old Joshua Taylor, son of Terry and Linda Taylor of Sikeston, and Heather Snider, 4-year-old daughter of Bobby and Joyce Snider of Dexter, were selected as the 1988 Little Mister and Miss Cotton Top. The youngsters were crowned Wednesday evening at the Cotton Carnival by Rep. Jerry Howard of rural Dexter.

SIKESTON - It didn't matter whether they were 2 or 92. Visitors from the area nursing homes, the New Dawn State School and the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center all appeared to have a good time during a special afternoon set aside for them at the Cotton Carnival. The participants rode the rides and picnicked on the grounds.

NEW MADRID - Preparation is under way for the New Madrid County Central High School football homecoming. Tonight there will be a parade and following the junior varsity game there will be a bonfire.

Sept. 21, 1998

SIKESTON - A stolen car at 407 East Gladys was reported Saturday night to the Department of Public Safety. The vehicle, owned by Kevin Dillender, was later recovered on Prairie Street, not far from where it was stolen.
