CHARLESTON -- Lois Rose McCrite, 63, formerly of Cairo, Ill., died at 8:57 a.m. Sept. 23, 2008, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 13, 1945, at Anna, Ill., daughter of the late Ferrell Virgil and Lucille Smith McCrite Sr., she had lived most of her life in Cairo, where she had worked as a cook for the Cairo Elks Club. She later moved to Charleston where she had been employed with the Casey's General Store and attended the First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, William McCrite of Charleston; two daughters, Ellen Kallaher of Jacksonville, Fla., and Roslyn McCrite of Charleston; three brothers, James McCrite of Cape Girardeau and Robert McCrite and Ferrell McCrite both of Olive Branch, Ill.; one sister, Beverly Reed of Mexico, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Elvis McCrite; and two sisters, Wanda McCrite Grace and Sondra Kay McCrite.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Private burial will follow at a later date.
