PUXICO -- John Franklin Powell, 90, died Oct. 14, 2008, at his home.

Born Jan. 1, 1918, in Puxico, to the late John F. and Pearl E. Kimes Powell, he had lived in Puxico all his life. He had worked at Dean's Service Station for 22 years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Asherville.

On Nov. 3, 1962, in Puxico, he married Juvata Looney who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Johnny C. Powell of Puxico; one daughter, Mary Ann Greer of Puxico; one stepson, Ronald D. Looney of Puxico; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Greer; three sisters, Fredia, Melba and Rita; and three brothers, Freeman, Carlos and Frances.

Visitation is scheduled at 6 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday with Terry Stockman of Sikeston officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston Cemetery.
