Betty Britt and Sherri Dirnberger, window clerks at the post office in Sikeston, wait on customers buying stamps and shipping holiday packages Monday morning. The USPS forecast Monday to be the busiest mailing day of the year, and Wednesday is set to be the busiest delivery day. However, for those mailing cards and packages there is still time to ensure they will be delivered by Christmas Day, with Dec. 20 the final day for first-class mail and Dec. 23 the deadline to ensure delivery through express mail. Keith Renfroe, owner of the UPS Store, said there business has been busy since Saturday and continues to escalate. There, customers can bring in their packages through Monday to guarantee Dec. 24 delivery. The UPS Store now has extra staff and extended hours, plus plenty of supplies in stock for packaging, said Renfroe.
