Melissa Norton

RALEIGH, N.C. - Melissa Lynn Norton, 42, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 26, 2009 in the Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Born March 2, 1966 at Hayti, Mo., to Clarence and Margie Douglas Mayabb of East Prairie, she lived in North Carolina for the past four years.

On Dec. 31, 1993, in Alabama she married Russell Jay Norton, who survives of the home.

Besides her husband and parents she is survived by two sons, Nathan Rapert of Sikeston, Mo., and Eric Rapert of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.; two daughters Charlotte Woodside of Ft. Hood, Texas, and Chelsea Badey of Indiana, Penn.; two brothers, Clarence "Tom" Mayabb, Jr. of Bloomfield, Mo., and Kevin Mayabb of Marion, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were conducted January 30 in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie. Helen Kersey officiated.

Pallbearers were Andy Norton, Nathan and Eric Rapert, Tom Mayabb, Kevin Mayabb and Nathan Connor.
