Must now decide whether to go to college or sign with the pro team

SIKESTON -- Former Sikeston Bulldog Baseball standout Vince Howard was drafted by the Atlanta Braves Wednesday in the annual first year player draft.

The Braves selected Howard in the 30th round.

Howard drew attention from major league scouts with his impressive 2009 campaign with the Bulldogs. Howard batted .452 this last season, with four home runs, 42 RBIs, nine doubles and two triples. Howard drew 13 walks while striking out only seven times in his 62 at-bats. Perhaps most impressive was Howard's .855 slugging percentage and .551 on base percentage.
