NMCC falls to Priory

ST. LOUIS -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles saw their season come to an end in the state quarterfinals for the third straight season.

The Priory Rebels, sporting a 7-5 record, dominated the offensive and defensive lines on Saturday and held the Eagles to only 208 yards of total offense en route to a 35-12 win.

Priory wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with quarterback Matt Jones capping a 73-yard drive with a touchdown run. A short time later Andrew Cusumano scored on a 40-yard option pitch and the Rebels led 14-0 after one.

Jones scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter as Priory led 28-0 at halftime. Jones then added another touchdown in the third quarter as the Rebels pushed the lead to 35-0.

Jones finished the game with 110 yards on the ground on only 12 carries. He also was 4-of-7 passing for 47 yards. Running back Craig Boyce had 113 yards on 28 carries.

NMCC scored both of their touchdowns late in the fourth quarter with the first coming on a 27-yard run from Kony Ealy on a triple reverse. After a recovered fumble on the kickoff, Jamareia Jones scored from 12 yards out to cap the scoring.

NMCC's G'Darius Stevenson was held to only 37 yards on nine carries as the Eagles finished the season at 9-4.
