SCOTT CITY -- Win number 11 for the Sikeston Bulldogs basketball team came on the road Friday evening at the mercy of the Scott City Rams. The 90-20 final marked the second time in a week that the Bulldogs reached 90 points in a win, and Friday's was a full team effort for Sikeston as the bench emptied early and often for head coach Gregg Holifield.

"I thought our energy was good and we played hard," said Holifield after the game. "Scott City's kids played hard too I thought."

Sikeston jumped out to a double-digit lead just over a minute into the game as they started out on a 10-0 run. The Rams managed just seven points in the first quarter as eight Bulldogs joined together to pour on 25 points on the home team.

Scott City had an even harder time with Sikeston in the second quarter. Landon Robert scored the lone field goal for the Rams in the second while Justin Modglin went 2-for-4 at the line to reach Scott City's quarter total of four points.

Six different Bulldogs, led by Janeil Hatchett, tacked on 24 more points before the break. At halftime Sikeston led 49-11. Hatchett scored 12 of his 15 in the first 16 minutes.

In the third, the same eight Bulldogs that scored in the first quarter, combined to score 29 more points while holding Scott City to just four more points in the frame. Sikeston racked up four 3-pointers in the third, including one by Terry Jamison who led the Bulldogs in scoring in the frame with seven points.

The future of Sikeston basketball was put on display in the fourth quarter as Holifield looked to his third string for 12 more points. Kil'Ron Coleman scored five, including a 3-pointer, in the fourth.

Scott City scored five, including a basket by Corey Speakman at the buzzer to give them a total of 20.

The Bulldogs shot over 50 percent from beyond the arc in the win, going 6-for-11. Junior Will Holifield recorded two of his own and said after the game that he and his teammates work hard on their 3-point shooting.

"We're focused," said Will Holifield. "I think that's the biggest thing."

Both he and Coach Holifield said after the game that getting the whole team involved was good preparation for when the Bulldogs take on Henry County, Tenn. which was scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Results from the game will appear in Tuesday's sports section.

"They'll be a good team tomorrow (Saturday)," said Gregg Holifield of Henry County. "We'll have to play really well to beat them. Hopefully we'll have the energy and the effort and we'll see what happens."

All 13 Bulldogs that stepped on the floor Friday evening managed to reach the scorebook. Hatchett's 15 led the way, followed by Juqualin Wiggins' 14, Eli Jackson's 12 and Jamison's 11. Wiggins also pulled down 10 rebounds and recorded eight assists.

Niquavious Dixon had four steals to lead Sikeston while Martez Evans dished out five assists in the win.

The Bulldogs shot nearly 70 percent (69.8) from the floor as they improved to 11-1 on the season.

Skylar Cobb, Speakman and Modglin each scored four points apiece in the Scott City loss.
