SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Housing Authority is hoping to add to the momentum of downtown's revitalization with a new facility of its own.

"It's decided," confirmed Bobby K. Henry, executive director of the Sikeston Housing Authority. "The architect is working on the plans and specifications and it should be ready to go out for bid the first of April."

The Dille and Traxel architectural firm of Poplar Bluff, the same firm which designed the new Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities building now under construction at the corner of West Malone and South New Madrid and the proposed Department of Public Safety headquarters, was selected by Housing Authority officials for this project as well.

The new Housing Authority building will be located at the corner of North Street and Allen Boulevard.

"It's right across the parking lot from our current office building," Henry said. "The Housing Authority bought the lot for the building in 1994. Since that time, we've actually been saving money for the new building."
