Wrong direction by Progressives

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Well the highly-promoted One Nation rally Saturday in Washington, D.C., was a bit of a flop. Organized by Progressives and labor unions - despite the rhetoric - the rally was a reaction to the recent Glen Beck rally. Primary organizers on MSNBC had all but promised the rally would far exceed the Beck rally in attendance.

They were woefully wrong.

But the rally was not about a head count. The rally was actually a frightening sign that some within this great nation no longer shun the socialist label. Countless attendees openly declared their socialist intents.

That should frighten everyone. But it does not.

Too many people don't take the time to recognize what a socialist agenda would include. But when the government starts taking from those who produce to give to those who do not, they will then realize. Granted, we do that already. Wait until this agenda is fully implemented.

Did you ever in your wildest nightmare think that this nation would be seriously trying to compare the benefits of socialism and capitalism? Well wake up folks because that discussion is in full steam within our federal government.

If we reach that tipping point where more people depend on the government for their existence than those who produce, the future will get really frightening.

And look carefully because we're nearing that point each day.

The comparison of the two recent rallies was striking. The Progressives did not shy away from personal attacks on Beck and Palin and any other conservative. Not the Beck rally. By most accounts, the Progressives left the rally in a trashy mess. Not the Beck rally. And any reference to God was clearly omitted from the Progressive rally. Not the Beck rally.

I have no hatred for those involved in the Progressive rally. I simply think they are wrong. And with the stakes as high as they are, being wrong can be dangerous.

The November elections will stall much of the Progressive movement. Or at least it appears so at this point.

But this discussion is not about elections as much as it is about why some can't clearly see where the direction this Progressive movement will eventually lead.

I want our collective efforts to be rewarded. I want hard work and sacrifice to have meaning. I want to help all of those who help themselves.

That is not the direction the Progressives would take us. And that is frightening.
