The structure outlining the 7,000-square-foot addition to the Kenny Rogers Children's Center began taking shape this week. Employees with the Collin McClanahan Co. began work on the steel structure on Friday and according to McClanahan this will be completed this week. The next phase will install a new structural insulated panel system for the building's exterior walls. According to Michelle Fayette, KRCC executive director, the system is both environmentally friendly and economical and meets construction standards for 130 mph winds and earthquakes. The addition will provide state-of-the-art pediatric therapy including a 4,000 square-foot indoor playground, a physical therapy room, vision room and the motion analysis lab. The addition is expected to be completed in March 2011, Fayette said.
