Juvenile center escapes budget cuts

CHARLESTON -- Escaping the budget axe wasn't just a lucky break for the Mississippi County Regional Juvenile Detention Center. It was recognition the facility is doing the right things.

In April the Missouri Supreme Court adopted the Circuit Court Budget Committee's recommendation and cut funding for state employee positions at juvenile detention centers in Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff, Bolivar, Union, Sedalia and Warrensburg.
