'Twilight' event is scheduled for Nov. 12 at Sikeston Public Library

SIKESTON -- A "Twilight" event where werewolves and vampires can get along is being planned for later this month in Sikeston.

In anticipation of the theatrical release of the film later this month, Sikeston Public Library's Young Adult Services is hosting a "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" movie party from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 12 at the library.

Reservations began being accepted Friday, and so far 20 have secured a spot for the occasion.

The young adult librarian said "Twi-hards" of all ages are excited about the release of the latest film installment of "The Twilight Saga" which is based on the series by American author Stephenie Meyer.

"They're counting down, and they know it's 17 days away from the premiere," said Young Adult Services librarian Amanda Jeane.

Many girls have already gone online and purchased tickets from the movie theater, she said.

"We're encompassing everybody. It's not an age specific phenomenon," Jeane said, adding she will also have "Twilight" coloring sheet packages available.

The last "Twilight" film released was "Eclipse" in June 2010 so "Twilight fans are anticipating the release of "Breaking Dawn," Jeane said. Like the final novel, the film will directly follow the events of "Eclipse," as human being Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen get married, leaving behind a heartbroken wolf, Jacob.

Jeane promised the event will have plenty for both Team Edward and Team Jacob fans. The night will include making jewelry and other"Twilight"-inspired games like Jeopardy and Whose Line Is It Anyway? A "Pin the Heart on Bella" game is also planned.
