Inmate dies after assault

NEW MADRID - The investigation is continuing into the death of an inmate at the New Madrid County Jail.

John Wayne Reynolds Jr., 49, died around 8 p.m. Tuesday after he was assaulted by other inmates at the jail, according to New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens.
