SIKESTON -- Mary Ann Forbis, 80, of Sikeston, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Golden Living at Brandywood in Gallatin, Tenn.

Born Sept. 10, 1931, in Sikeston, she was the daughter of the late James and Tishie (Bates) Hitchcock.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Lawrence; and three brothers, J.N. Hitchcock Jr., Olen Hitchcock and Lindell Hitchcock.

She and Glenn married May 6, 1951, in Sikeston, at First Baptist, and she was a 1949 graduate of Sikeston High School. Mary worked for many years at BMU. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Forbis; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Anne Forbis of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Louie Belt Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Justin and Jana Dover of Hendersonville, Tenn., Christopher Forbis of Greenville, S.C., and Andrea Forbis of Sikeston; and two great-grandkids, Mason Dover and Baylor Dover also of Greenville.

A visitation is scheduled Monday, June 11 from 10 a.m. until the service time at noon at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel and the interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs is officiating. Soloists Steve and Patti McPheeters and organist Brenda Hale will provide the music for the service.
