SIKESTON -- J.D. Moore, 79, died July 12, 2012, at the John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Feb. 11, 1933, in Sikeston, to the late William D. and Dixie Casteel Moore, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army for 12 years and was a member of American Legion Henry Meldrum Post No. 114 in Sikeston and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Charleston. He had been self-employed as a service station equipment installer and repairman.

On Feb. 15, 1953, in Sikeston, he married Freda Holden who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, Jiggs and Brenda Moore of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Rick Taylor of Sikeston; two sisters, Margaret Roberts of Shelley, Idaho, and Martha Sue Foster of Vanduser; and four grandsons, one granddaughter and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Rae Moore, on May 8, 2002, and five brothers and five sisters.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Matthews Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Wollenburg, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, officiating.

Pallbearers will be: his grandchildren, Ben Moore, Jacob Moore, Tyler Moore, Jeremy Taylor and Jennifer Summers; and Chester Kordahl, Bill Deane IV and Richard Howard.
