CANTON, Miss. -- Anthony G. Sharp, 48, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died at 7:40 p.m. Dec. 28, 2012, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Born May 3, 1964, in Charleston, son of Margaret Sharp Bingham of Cairo, Ill., and Jimmie L. Griffin of Canton, he was employed as the head chef at Pearl's Soul Food Restaurant in Jackson. He attended Charleston High School and was a member of the First Praise Missionary Baptist Church in Cairo.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one son, Anthony Sharp Jr. of Columbia, Mo.; three daughters, Latoyia Madison of Jackson, Kabya Jackson of Peoria, Ill., and Alisha Ford of Joliet, Ill.; three brothers, Jimmie Griffin, Thomas Griffin and Carlos Griffin of Cairo; three sisters, Regina Griffin of Atlanta and Cheryl Griffin and Tennesha Griffin of Canton; three stepsisters, Sabrina Jackson, Pamela Bingham and Charlotte Davis; and one stepbrother, Urbane Bingham.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Terrence L. Griffin.

Visitation is scheduled from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with Larry Barnett and Steve Betts officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.

The Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
