ST. LOUIS -- Oma Shanks Wagner, 98, died Jan. 6, 2013.

Born Aug. 4, 1913, in Morehouse, to the late James Wesley and Alpha Bridgeman Shanks, she attended St. Louis Public Schools until moving to New York City in the 1930s to join the John Robert Powers Modeling Agency. She did secretarial/administrative work and private duty nursing for many years.

She married Walter Werner Wagner who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Hubick, Francis Osmeloski and Velma Santonocito.

Survivors include: two daughters, Karyn Marlane Wagner of Montreal, Canada, and Winifred Leah Wagner of St. Charles; a half brother, James Wesley Shanks Jr. of Sikeston; and a half sister, Iona June Wade of Alton, Ill.

Visitation will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa in St. Louis.

Burial will be Friday in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
