Wanted man arrested in Steele area

STEELE - A man wanted on felony warrants in two counties was captured by law enforcement officers after a brief chase.

Pemiscot County sheriff's deputies and officers with the Steele Police received information from authorities in Clay and Buchanan counties on Monday that Earl Lanier, 30, was a felon and might be in the Steele area. Steele Police officers located Lanier and when confronted, he ran from officers. Officers pursued Lanier on foot for two blocks before he was taken into custody.

Lanier is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail lieu of $375,000 bond on charges of two counts of first degree tampering, two counts of escape from custody and two counts of resisting arrest Clay County and on one count of possession of controlled substance and one count of failure to appear in Buchanan County.
