EAST PRAIRIE - Jack "Uncle Jack" Adkison, 86, died at 5:40 a.m. Aug. 13, 2004, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born July 21, 1918, in East Prairie, son of the late Carl and Lona Daniel Adkison, he lived in East Prairie most of his life. He was a retired salesman and member of the First Christian Church. He was known by many as "Uncle Jack," always greeting people with a smile, and he always had a pack of gum for the children.

Survivors include: two sons, Bruce Adkison of East Prairie and Ronnie Adkison of Los Angeles; two sisters, Eugenia Royal of Malden and Faye Higgins of Prosser, Wash.; two cousins, Bill Adkison and Jean Walden of East Prairie; and five grandchildren.

One broth er, C.D. Adkison, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. Saturday until service time at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in East Prairie. Bill Adkisson and Ronald Carter will officiate.

Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ralph Adkisson, Paul Adkisson, Harold Joe Adkisson, Bill Adkisson, Leo Martin and Richard Yount.

His cousin, Bill Adkison, will be honorary pallbearer.

Shelby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
