John Norman

CHARLESTON - John Norman, 63, formerly of East Prairie, died at 1:15 a.m. Nov. 23, 2002, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Jan. 5, 1939, near East Prairie, son of the late James Edward and Elsie Marie Burns Norman, he was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Charleston and a retired farmer.

On Dec. 10, 1960, he married Mary Rose Howton who preceded him in death on April 16, 1989.

He and Barbara Kaye Brown were married Aug. 3, 1990, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Joe Ann and David Kassabaum of Jefferson City; two stepsons, Jerry Hailey Jr. of Sikeston and Jeffery Hailey of Charleston; four brothers, George Alfred Norman of Sikeston, James Monroe Norman of Murray, Ky., and Woodrow Wilson Norman and Mike DeWayne Norman of East Prairie; four sisters, Clara Mae Humphreys of East Prairie, Ruth Ellen Miller of LaCenter, Ky., Margie Marie Suggs of Bertrand and Sandra Kaye Henderson of Sikeston; and four stepgrandchildren.

One sister, Emma Francis Morton, also preceded him in death.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Ed Carter and Pete Morton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
