Lillian Guiling

ESSEX -- Lillian C. Guiling, 81, died Feb. 22, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 5, 1921, in Wayne County, Tenn., daughter of the late William P. and Lealer Ann Wood Fowler, she had been a resident of Essex until 1971 when she moved to Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau.

On March 7, 1938, she married Curtis C. "Dude" Guiling who preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1991.

Survivors include: one daughter-in-law, Joel Guiling of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Buford Fowler of Sikeston; and one grandson and his wife, Tim and Stacey Guiling of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Guiling who died on March 18, 2002, two sisters and four brothers.

Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiated.

Burial followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield.
