WYATT - John Francis Rolwing, 76, died at 8:10 p.m. Feb. 13, 2003, at his home.

Born Dec. 19, 1926, in Mississippi County, son of the late Otto J. and Ethel Newcum Rolwing, he was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County, where he was a farmer and landowner. A member of St. Henry Catholic Church, he served as director of the Texas Bend Cemetery Association for many years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On Feb. 13, 1956, he married Captola McClain Raffety who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Kevin Francis Rolwing of New York, N.Y.; one daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Charles Moxley of Charleston; five stepsons, Joseph Raffety of Clarksville, Tenn., Fred Raffety of Dallas, Texas, Phillip Raffety of Wyatt, Dan Raffety of Savannah, Ga., and John Raffety of Germantown, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Julia Raffety of Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Norbert Rolwing, Mark Rolwing and Patrick Rolwing of Charleston; two sisters, Margaret Stricker of Charleston and Rosemary Orr of Kirkwood; and 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Two sisters, Miriam Rolwing and Sister Helen Rolwing of the Ursuline Nuns, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where a prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry Catholic Church. Monsignor Richard Rolwing, pastor of St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, and the Rev. Ed Nichols, pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church, will serve as concelebrants.

Burial will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Stephen Orr, Grant Raffety, Joseph Rolwing, Richard Rolwing, Tim Rolwing and Carl Stricker.
