SIKESTON -- Doris E. Clayton, 65, died June 5, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston following a 16-year illness.

Born Dec. 27, 1938, in New Madrid, daughter of the late John P. and Pearlie Young Allen, she was a member of the North Acres General Baptist Church.

On April 21, 1961, she married James Clayton who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Rachel Clayton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Wanda Jane Gaines of Columbia and Sue and Dale Hodges of Oakville, Ill.; one grandson, Caleb James Allen Clayton of Cedar Rapids; four brothers-in-law and their wives, Richard and Pam Clayton of Advance, David and Diane Clayton of Dana Point, Calif., and Don and Cathy Clayton and Gene and Bonnie Clayton of Sikeston; three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Sharon and Harold Hood of Bloomfield, Eva and Danny Carter of Cape Girardeau and Ruth Ann and Charles Blattenburg of Villa Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Dean Allen; and one brother-in-law, Darrell Gaines.

Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at North Acres General Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Elledge and Rev. Jimmy Trotter, former pastors of North Acres General Baptist Church, and Rev. Steve Tippen, current pastor of North Acres General Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Richard Clayton, Don Clayton, Gene Clayton, Danny Carter, J.W. Nelson and Mark Wamble.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Darren Clayton, Bud Parks, James Leigh, Ralph Hood, Ed Wright, Danny Carter Jr., Jimmy Davis and Mike Flynn.
