PADUCAH, Ky. -- Violet Louise Stone, 80, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., and Bertrand, Mo., died at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 8, 2003, in the Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Born May 25, 1922, in Medina, Tenn., daughter of the late Hugh and Elizabeth Todd Shands, she had lived in Paducah for the past seven years after moving from Mississippi County in Missouri.

On Nov. 12, 1938, she married Robert Marshall who preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1959.

She married Joe Stone on April 18, 1960, and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2001.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Marshall; two brothers, Roy Shands and Elvis Shands; and three sisters, Hattie Easley, Imogene Reeves and Edna Keeton.

Survivors include: three sons, Charles Marshall of Peoria, Ariz., Donald Marshall of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Glen Marshall of Jackson, Mo.; one daughter Mary Boyer of Paducah; one brother, James Shands of East Prairie; and 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandhildren.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. Bill Meeks will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Boyer, Robert Heppe, David Hurley, Billy McCall, Mark Shands and Randy Shands.
