MEMPHIS -- Mary Ruth Stewart, 76, formerly of Portageville, Mo., died Nov. 4, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

Born Nov. 17, 1925, at Portageville, she was the daughter of the late Fred Floyd and Mary Jane Brown Phillips.

On June 18, 1946, in Portageville, she married Lloyd Stewart who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2000.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd "Glenn" and Janis Stewart and Kirk and Laura Stewart of Memphis; one brother, Carl Phillips of Portageville; three sisters, Lois Ray of Doniphan, Mo., Shirley Perry of New Madrid, Mo., and Betty Coon of Sikeston, Mo.; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Cleatus Phillips, Ragel Phillips, Buddy Phillips and Paul Phillips; and three sisters, Alice Ray, Carlotta Cook and Slyvania LeSieur.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jerry Haughton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
