SIKESTON - Hospital notes: Mrs. Frank Rankin of Gray Ridge entered on Dec. 22 and a daughter was born to her on the following day.


SIKESTON - A daughter was also born to Mrs. J. Ramsey of West Murray Lane.

SIKESTON -Earl M. Allen of Sikeston has bee named to the National Circus Hall of Fame. The appointment was announced by Col. W.W. Naraore, president of the Circus Hall of Fame, the traditional circus attraction of this area. Allen is vice president of the Security National Bank in Sikeston.

Dec. 29, 1984

EAST PRAIRIE - Mayor Marty Hutcheson submitted his resignation during Thursday night's East Prairie City Council session. Hutcheson, who was elected in November to take office in January as county commissioner for the second district of Mississippi County, was presented a plaque of appreciation by Board President Kevin Maynord, who will be acting mayor until the April election.

BENTON - John Bollinger, Scott County recorder, will say goodbye with the coming of a new year. After 40 years at the courthouse he will retire from county government.


SIKESTON - Michael Green has declared war. The director of the Citizens Home Mission Outreach Center Inc. is enlisting young people and their parents to do battle against drugs, violence and crime in Sikeston. Recalling how Desert Storm brought together nations to defeat Iraq in 90 days, Green said his war can be won as well. "If we can organize here, we can win the battle. We can take our community back from the drugs and the thugs," he said.
